By launching this website and brand, I wanted to make a case for Language Management Consulting. This article aims to shed light on what Language Management is and how can your business benefit from it. Generally speaking, Language Management is a more integrated approach to managing foreign languages within a company, i.e. to establish a Language Management Strategy (LMS), which is defined as a set of measures and techniques used to prevent linguistic barriers from occurring in new foreign markets. In this sense, as an approach, it is similar to Enterprise Risk Management. According to the Institute of Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is an integrated and joined up approach to managing risk across an organization and its extended networks.
Similarly, Language Management offers a unique combination of technical knowledge and market trends expertise, as well as translation and localization guidance, while helping organizations choose the solution that makes the most sense for their business model, distribution channels and growth strategy. Instead of providing a simple ad hoc translation/localization service, Language Management Consulting offers a solution that is integrated in a company’s strategic planning. The easiest way to offer the above solution is via a Language Audit. In this article, I am giving an overview of Language Audit and how it can help your business. Sources: Gaskill, S.
